The Monarch High School Cavalry Marching Band has earned recognition during fall competitions.
The Cavalry band earned a superior rating at the Florida Bandmaster Association District 15 Marching Music Performance Assessment (MPA) at Cypress Bay High School on October 25.
Band director Jorge Fernandez is proud of the band and said it earned superior ratings in music performance, visual performance, percussion, and auxiliary at the assessment. Calvary’s show, “Beautiful Kingdom,” earned second place and the General Effect Award at the Falcon Sound Invitational and the John I. Leonard Lancer Jamboree.
“Our band continues to grow, and members showcase excellence both within and beyond the program, proudly representing Monarch High School and the city of Coconut Creek at every level,” said Fernandez.
Also, Monarch’s guard and winter guard programs, under the direction of Nazah Stebbins, a member of the Winter Guard International (WGI) community, have received high praise for their most recent show, “The Light That Never Fails.” The guard has been consistently rated superior in auxiliary performance and earned third place in last year’s South Florida Winter Guard Association (SFWGA) state competition, according to Fernandez.
