
North Broward Prep Girls Soccer. {NBP Athletics}
High School soccer wrapped up the regular season with senior nights, while the postseason bracket was officially released.
The boys’ soccer team picked up a 1–0 victory against Olympic Heights Community High School on Thursday in its Senior Night match. Prior to the game, the Knights honored seniors Diego Barrera, Gustavo Game, Kenny Santos, and Marco Tuesta.
With the win, the Knights finished the regular season 12-3-4, earning the top seed in the district Tournament. They will receive a bye in the opening round and will face either Boyd H. Anderson or Piper High School on Friday, January 23, at 5 p.m. Deerfield Beach High School is the No. 2 seed and will play either Fort Lauderdale or Coral Springs High School.
The girls’ team also recognized its seniors — Abigail Jacome, Sarah Hernandez, Dalilah Alvarado-Nater, Sophia Henriques, and Nadia Lawrence — on Senior Night. The Monarchs fell 4–0 to Olympic Heights Community High School in their final regular-season game.
The Knights finished the season 7-9-1 and earned the second seed in the District Tournament. They will have a bye in the opening round before facing either Deerfield Beach or Boyd H. Anderson High School on Monday, January 26, at 7 p.m. Fort Lauderdale High School is the top seed and will play either Piper or Coral Springs High School.
The Coconut Creek High School boys team held its Senior Night on Monday against Coral Springs High School, falling 3–2. Despite the loss, the Cougars recognized seniors Kareem Weekes, Camilo Crucera, Joshua Palomeque, Jay Antoine, Herdy Clermont, Blanneko Pierre, Canaria Brown, Mike Milford, Clevice Joseph, Dudley Norcine, David Miron, Hans Rene, and Marley Nelson. Brown and Milford each scored goals in the match.
The Cougars closed the regular season with a 2–1 win over Northeast High School. Joseph Laine and Vaguensley Laine each scored goals earlier in the week in a 6–1 loss to South Broward High School.
Coconut Creek finished the season 9-4-2 and earned the third seed in the District Tournament. The Cougars will have a bye in the opening round and will face Atlantic High School on Thursday, January 22, at 6 p.m. Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School is the top seed and will play either Plantation or Boyd H. Anderson High School in the Semifinals.
North Broward Prep held Senior Night on January 8, with the boys’ team earning a 5–2 victory. Seniors honored included Joshua Golden, Leonardo Hassan, Bernardo Carvalho, Mac Galparin, Filippe Cabral, Bernardo Franco, and Carlos Orbesgoso. The Eagles later fell 3–1 to Jensen Beach High School in their final regular-season game, finishing the year 7-7-2.
They are seeded third at Districts and will play American Heritage High School in the Semifinals on Thursday, January 22, at 5 p.m. Somerset Academy Canyons is the top seed and will face the winner of Glade Central and FAU High School.
The girls’ team recognized seniors Zoie Brown, Isabella Cancelier, Lila Brown, Ella Munoz, Sophia Souza, and Isabella Souza before posting a 10–0 shutout victory. Munoz led the way with three goals, while Jayda Palumbo and Zoie Brown each scored twice. Cancelier, Kaiden O’Neill, and Sophia Souza added goals, while Brown recorded the shutout in goal as seven different players registered assists.
North Broward Prep followed that performance with an 8–0 shutout win over Jensen Beach High School to close the regular season. The Eagles finished 14-1-3, earning the second seed in the District Tournament. NBP will have a bye in the opening round before playing Florida Atlantic University High School on Wednesday, January 21, at Central High School.
