Marvin Keith has been a painter most of his life.
A resident of Wynmoor in Coconut Creek, Keith began painting at age 14 and has created about 450 paintings. He was among a group of artists who presented their work in the ArtsFest at the Coconut Creek Community Center on September 13. The artwork was also available for purchase.
“I use light and color in my work. I began by painting landscapes, and now I am painting cottages and the interiors of homes. I paint seven or eight hours a day, and I have had my work displayed at many shows over the years,” said Keith.
Many of the artists focus their work on nature. Marlene Kinderman of Coconut Creek uses soft pastels and chalk to create her work. “I love to create nature scenes with water, flowers, and trees,” she said.
Mary Doyle, of Coconut Creek and a student at Nova Southeastern University, presented crocheted animals. “I love to create crochet art, and I enjoy coming to this show,” she said.
Philip Alleman and his son, Josh, presented their art. Philip, a drafting teacher at Atlantic Technical College, presented acrylic paintings. “I love to paint, and I create work showing the contributions of women to society,” he said. Josh presented his digital art. “This is a good show and I enjoyed being a part of it,” he said.

The Coconut Creek Multicultural Circle sponsored the ArtsFest. Saima Farooqui, president of the organization, said the show promoted art and culture in the community.
The event brought together artistic and culturally minded people for a fun social gathering, and many participants enjoyed the opportunity to socialize.
