Monarch High School was the lone team in Coconut Creek to record a win in Week 5.
Coming off a big win over Seminole High School, the Knights beat Fort Lauderdale High School for its second straight win and third of the season. Florentino Lopez continues his stellar season, throwing five touchdown passes and finishing the game with 434 passing yards. Jeremiah Millicent also threw for one as Jamboree Riggins and Jabari Brady combined for over 300 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns.
Sanjay Fisher caught three passes for 94 yards, while Chris Cortinas also had a 35-yard touchdown reception. Keshawn Paschall added a rushing touchdown, and Miguel Farinas made six extra points. Next, Monarch will have a week off before playing Chaminade Madonna High School on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The Lions currently rank third in the state and 20th in the nation, with a 3-1 record this year. Their only loss came against nationally ranked St. Frances Academy in the first week. The Knights suffered their only regular-season loss a year ago, falling to Chaminade Madonna, 37-6, on October 5.
Coconut Creek High School competed against Cardinal Gibbons High School and suffered its first loss of the season, losing to Cardinal Gibbons High School 11-6. The Cougars are 4-1 and will play Boyd H. Anderson High School in their next game on Friday, September 28, at 7 p.m. The Cobras are 0-4 this year, losing to St. Thomas Aquinas, Fort Lauderdale, Dillard, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas in their last game. They were also beaten 44-6 in their matchup with the Cougars a season ago.
North Broward Prep has lost its last two games after starting the season 2-1. Ralph Diaz tossed a pair of touchdowns to Braxton Bylaw in a 49-24 loss against American Heritage High School. He finished the game with 211 passing yards while Joshua Svylvain had 103 receiving yards. Darren Pressley and Dennis Anderson each had rushing touchdowns.
The Eagles would then go on to play Saint Andrew’s High School in their most recent game on Friday and lost 31-9. The game was even at three through one quarter, with Mateo Sanchez making a field goal. He went on to finish the game with three as the offense struggled and turned the ball over three times.
Despite being down by only one at halftime, NBP lost by 22 points. They will now play at Pompton Academy in their next game on Friday, September 26, at 7 p.m. The Lions are winless this year, losing to Boca Raton Christian, Somerset Prep, Inlet Grove, Somerset Academy, and Olympic Heights High School. They also lost 31-6 in their only meeting with NBP last season.
