Attempted Home Burglary Foiled by Impact Glass

A suspect tried to gain entry into a unoccupied Parkland home, but his efforts may have been thwarted due to the impact glass on the windows.

On June 10, at 8:14 p.m., an officer with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to a home at the 7500 block of 111th Manor in the Parkland Reserve community.

The victim said that between 3:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m., someone tried to gain entry into his residence through a bedroom window towards the rear of the residence. He stated that when the family returned home that evening, he noticed that the home had no power. Upon checking the FPL power supply, he found the box opened and the power switch turned off.

While inspecting the outside of the residence, he discovered that two screens were removed on both the kitchen and master bedroom window.

During the investigation, the officer discovered two small holes on the master bedroom window, possibly made by a pointed object, however, the window was not shattered due to the impact glass. One print was obtained from the exterior of the bedroom window and placed into evidence. The residence was also equipped with an alarm system which was not activated at the time and the home did not have a video surveillance system.

An area check was conducted by BSO and contact was made with the neighbors who advised that they did not see anything suspicious.
