Anthony Rizzo was back at it again before the New York Yankees game against the Detroit Tigers on June 3.
However, before batting practice, Rizzo met with another young fan. This time it was with 10-year-old Giuliana Koehler, diagnosed with a DIPG Brain Tumor earlier this year.
A rare, fast-growing tumor, DIPGs tend to spread to nearby tissue and other parts of the brain stem. Typically occurring in children, they are hard to treat and have a poor prognosis.
She traveled from Chicago with her parents to meet with Rizzo.
The Yankees also went on to win their game 13-0 while Rizzo homered his 12th of the season. He went on to hit his 13th the next day during the Yankees’ 3-0 win and currently has 35 RBIs this season, helping New York to the best record in baseball.
