
Coconut Creek High School Football. {CC Athletics}
The High School football season continued in week five, with two teams recording wins and another one having a bye.
Coconut Creek High School beat Boyd H. Anderson High School 61-0 and is 5-1 this season. They were coming off their first loss of the season against Cardinal Gibbons High School and will play South Broward High School in their next game on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The Bobcats previously beat Deerfield Beach and Cooper City High School to start the year, following a 4-7 season the previous year. These teams last played in 2010, when South Broward won 14-6.
North Broward Prep recorded a 50-0 victory over Somerset Academy Key. Sammy Kovari threw for a pair of touchdowns while Ralph Diaz tossed one. Braxton Bylaw recorded two receiving touchdowns while Emerson Walker had one. Kenneth Hall also had 10 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense was led by Evan Phillips, who recovered two fumbles and also blocked a field goal.
The Eagles had previously lost two straight games, but are now 3-3 this season heading into their game on Friday, October 13, against St. John Paul II Catholic High School at 7 p.m. They had their first win come against Somerset Prep Academy, but lost 35-21 in the lone matchup a season ago.
Monarch High School had its bye week and will play Chaminade Madonna High School on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The Lions currently rank third in the state and 20th in the nation, with a 3-1 record this year. Their only loss came against nationally ranked St. Frances Academy in the first week. The Knights suffered their only regular-season loss a year ago, falling to Chaminade Madonna, 37-6, on October 5
