Mothers, sisters, and of course, daughters, flocked to Parkland Golf & County Club on Wednesday evening for the Second Annual I Heart NMD shopping fundraiser.
Denyse Hostig, the event organizer and founder of “Not My Daughter… find a cure now!” viewed the event as a success.
“There are about 200 people here tonight, so we are thrilled with the turnout,” she exclaimed. “I want to thank the Parkland community for their continued support.”
Hostig overcame her own battle with breast cancer at the tender age of 40 and launched NMD a decade ago to raise funds for research and awareness about the disease.
“I was very lucky and blessed to catch it early, and now I view it as an opportunity to give back and help others affected by the disease.”
All of the evening’s profits from I Heart NMD are going towards breast cancer research and patient support services at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Plantation.
Event attendees at I Heart NMD were treated to a lavish buffet dinner and Valentine-themed candy bar, cocktails, and raffle prizes.
An adjacent ballroom was filled with community vendors selling designer handbags, apparel, jewelry, home accessories, and more. Mona and Amanda Appel of Mona’s Clothing Boutique manned a busy table near the entrance.
“We are proud to be a part of NMD’s charitable efforts. We have participated every year since [Hostig] started the charity,” Appel explained.
“Parkland is our home, and it is important for us to support our local friends and family.”
