Marjory Stoneman Douglas Girls Soccer Start Season 2-0

Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls soccer began their season with a pair of wins over Pembroke Pines Charter and Fort Lauderdale High School on Monday and Tuesday.

This is the first time since 2017 that the Eagles have started out 2-0. Their first win was against Pembroke Pines Charter was a 1-0 victory after Kendall Slack scored the lone goal, and freshman Elaina Westergren put up a shutout in the net.

MSD followed that up with an offensive explosion as they won 6-0 against Fort Lauderdale High School when Mia Englebart scored the first two goals of the game, and then Slack scored her second of the season to make it 3-0. Lily Conn added a pair of goals before the end of the first half and Sahai Simmonds scored her first of the season to make it 6-0.

“The team is excited to play and comes ready each day to train and play with lots of focus, positivity, and energy,” said Head Coach Laura Rountree. “They love each other and work hard for each other, and it is a blessing and honor to be their coach.”

Up next, MSD will head on the road to face West Broward High School on Monday, January 11, for a matchup at 4 p.m.
