Coconut Creek Commissioner Jackie Railey was recently honored in the U.S. Congress.
U.S. House Rep. Jared Moskowitz read a commendation of Railey into the official record of the 118th U.S. Congress on Nov. 8, recognizing her for her leadership in the Wynmoor Village community and city as a whole.
Railey – elected in 2021 and currently Coconut Creek’s vice mayor – faces a challenge in the March 2025 election for the District B commission seat from a bitter political rival, Wynmoor resident Philippa Sklaar.
“Jackie’s commitment to public service has greatly enriched the lives of her neighbors, and her continued leadership has strengthened the entire community,” Moskowitz said in his remarks to the congress. “Her dedication to the public good has made a pro- found difference in the lives of our residents. Throughout her tenure on the City Commission, Jackie has been an advocate for responsible governance, fostering transparency and responsiveness to the needs of the people.”
Railey, a Wynmoor Village resident, was also recognized with a presentation of the congressional record Dec. 1 at the Wynmoor Community Appreciation Luncheon.
The commisioner is president of the Wynmoor Community Council, president and council representative for Martinique III Village Condominium Association, and special events vice president of the Wynmoor Golf Association.
A native New Yorker, Railey has advocated for improved amenities and recreational spaces in the 55 and over community of Wynwood and led social programs that bring neighbors together, according to Moskowitz.
Records show that Wynmoor has more than 5,200 condo units and 44 independent associations. The Wynmoor Community Council, of which Railey is president, manages those associations.
“Her initiatives have fostered a sense of unity within the community and have enriched the lives of all who call Wynmoor home,” the congressman said.
“Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in celebrating Jackie Railey’s invaluable contributions to the community,” Moskowitz added, addressing Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. “Her years of service as a City Commissioner and community leader have left an indelible mark, and we are deeply grateful for her unwavering dedication.”
Railey, who is squaring off with Sklaar in her re-election battle, filed a defamation lawsuit in Broward Circuit Court in June accusing Sklaar of defaming her in social media posts — communications that alleged wrongdoing by Railey in her role as council president, court records show.
Bruce Bandler, administrator of the Wynmoor Community Council, is also suing Sklaar for defamation, the records show.
Railey and Bandler have denied any wrongdoing.
