Coconut Creek Seeks Federal Dollars for Emergency, Water Infrastructure Projects

The commission is seeking federal funding to support various projects in Coconut Creek.

During the March 12 meeting, the commission passed a resolution to support the city’s request for federal community project funding for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), a facility for coordinating emergency response, and the community staging area project, which provides a designated space for emergency resources and personnel. Both projects support the City’s Vision 2030 Strategic Plan and goals addressing safety, quality of life, and a strong government.

The commission approved a resolution supporting a request for federal community project funding for the EOC HVAC and technology system project, which also supports the strategic plan.

Additionally, the commission approved a resolution supporting a request for federal funding for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project, which involves installing automated water meters to improve efficiency and monitor water usage throughout the city.

To advance these projects, the city will request advocacy from Congressman Jared Moskowitz for the funding, according to city information.

City Manager Sheila Rose expressed hope that the city will receive funding, emphasizing the importance of these projects to the community.
