
Coconut Creek High School Boys Soccer Team. {CC Athletics}
Coconut Creek High School student athletes were recognized with all-county awards following the winter sports season.
Luca Lopez of the Monarch boys soccer team earned First Team honors after scoring 19 goals and adding five assists, helping lead the Knights to the Regional Final for the second straight season. Monarch finished the year 15-5-4, while Daniel Barrera, Juan Marmolejo, Joel Torres, and Marco Tuesta were all named Honorable Mentions.
The Monarch girls’ soccer team also saw recognition, with Daniella Abadir, Nadua Lawrence, and Angelena Pirolo earning Honorable Mentions. The Knights recorded eight wins this season, including a postseason victory over Deerfield Beach High School.
In wrestling, Monarch had two Second Team selections in state qualifiers Diddier Carrillo Castillo and Tyler Metellus. Both athletes captured District Championships and went on to place third at the regional competition.
The Monarch boys basketball team had Isiah Phillip and Nikyle Campbell named Honorable Mentions. The Knights finished 13-9 this season, with Phillip leading the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game. Campbell averaged 8.9 points per game while also leading the team in rebounds, assists, and steals.
Coconut Creek High School was also well represented, as the two-time District Champions featured Clevice Joseph, Mike Milord, and Kareem Weekes, who were named Honorable Mentions in boys soccer. The Cougars went 11-5-2. Both Joseph and Milford had seven goals to tie for the team lead. Weekes shined in net, posting five shutouts,
Bivindi Jean, Nicholas Lindsay, Ijah Chin, and Emmanuel Noel all earned Honorable Mention recognition for the boys’ basketball team. The Cougars won nine games this season, with Jean leading the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game. Lindsay ranked second on the team with 11.6 points per game, while Chin led the team in rebounding, and Noel contributed seven points per game.
The Coconut Creek girls basketball team had its entire starting lineup earn Honorable Mention Honors, including Ma’Kylah Menard, Arial Jackson, Aja Bryan, Naomi Taylor, and Branyah Graham. Menard led the team with 14.4 points per game, while Jackson also finished the season averaging double figures. Bryan was a force on the glass, averaging nearly 10 rebounds per game, as the team finished with a 9-8 record.
For the football season, each school had a Biran Piccolo award nominee. Thus, recognition is for the top Broward County high school student-athletes for excellence in football, academics, and community service. Jayden Joselin was elected from Monarch High School, while Khameron Baker was recognized from Coconut Creek High School.
