Coconut Creek’s annual Butterfly Run took flight again on the morning of February 2, drawing 622 runners of all ages and skill levels to Tradewinds Park for a spirited community event.
This year’s race saw strong performances from local runners. The top female finishers were Evan Ferreira of Boca Raton, Valeria Malafaia of Coconut Creek, and Giselle Reis of Boca Raton.
On the men’s side, Kwan Lun of Coral Springs took the top spot, followed by Stephen Davis of Boynton Beach and David Martinez of Pompano Beach.
The event generated $16,560 from participant registrations and an additional $3,000 in sponsorship revenue from eight sponsors, bringing the total funds raised to $19,560. All proceeds will go back into the city’s general fund.
The entire Coconut Creek Commission participated in the event, showing their support for the community. Commissioner Joshua Rydell emphasized the event’s impact in fostering local engagement.
“It’s great to see so many people come out for such a fun and meaningful event,” Rydell said.
