Natasha Gomez {BSO}
A former employee of Lyons Creek Middle School was arrested on Thursday after allegedly assaulting a campus security monitor in an altercation outside the school.
According to a Coconut Creek Police Department incident report, Natasha Gomez, 35, of Tamarac, arrived at the school on March 10. When she pulled into the parking lot, the security monitor attempted to identify the driver but couldn’t because of the glare on the windshield.
Records show the security monitor—wearing his official Broward School District security uniform—told officers that Gomez proceeded to step out of her vehicle aggressively and repeatedly asked if he had a problem with her. He responded that she was the one with a problem. At that point, Gomez allegedly began calling him names.
The security officer told CCPD the situation escalated when Gomez exited the school’s entry area after picking up her child. She continued yelling at him, stating that she wanted to fight his aunt before allegedly spitting in his face.
The arrest report details that surveillance footage reportedly captured Gomez aggressively approaching the security officer while he remained seated at his post. The video appears to show her pulling her head back and thrusting forward, consistent with the act of spitting. She then walked away, entered her vehicle, and left the area.
The officer immediately reported the incident to his superior and on-campus school resource officers. Based on victim testimony and surveillance footage, police determined that because the victim was working in his official capacity as a Broward Schools Campus Monitor at the time, probable cause was established for Gomez to be charged with Battery on a School Employee.
Following the investigation, a warrant was issued for Gomez’s arrest, and she was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
