In their final regular-season home game, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas boy’s basketball team earned their fifth win of the season.
The Eagles beat Plantation High School 74-53 behind a big performance from Sean Sucarichi and Joshua Ruiz.
Sucarichi led the team with 18 points, and Ruiz added 16. Paxton Kafka was the lone other Eagle to finish in double figures with 10, but Jevaughn Morris played well and added seven points in the win in Parkland.
Sucarichi and Morris pushed the pace all night, and Ruiz was able to get to the rim. With Districts starting soon, Head Coach Teddy Lyons believes in his team though others may not.
“No one thinks we have a chance, but our kids are ready to prove that they are ready to meet the next challenge,” Lyons said. “It’s been an up and down year, but the arrow is definitely pointing up.”
The Parkland school will have one more game in the regular season against a highly-talented North Broward Prep team on Wednesday, February 5, at 7 p.m. in Coconut Creek. They have 14 wins this season and have been very strong at home.
