Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas Linemen Nick Weber Goes From Walk-On to 4-Year Starter at FAU

After starting as a walk-on, former Marjory Stoneman Douglas offensive linemen Nick Weber has become a star for the Florida Atlantic University football team.

Playing 29 games in 2014 – 2016 for Marjory Stoneman Douglas football, the Eagles went 18-12 and had a chance to block for future NFL running back Khalil Herbert.

Weber then went on to play for FAU as a walk-on starting in 2018, making 12 appearances while the Owls went 5-7.

Following that season, Weber was awarded a scholarship playing under Lane Kiffin during his final season with FAU. His team went a remarkable 11-3 to beat Southern Methodist College (SMU) 52-28 in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl.

“It’s a lot of stress relieved, like with money and all that stuff,” Weber said. “So now, you can really just focus on football and school at all times.”

Weber made the switch to center at the start of the 2020 season and was named to Rimington Trophy Watch List for the best center. After playing nine games last year, Weber has appeared in five matchups this year, helping FAU get off to a 3-2 start.

FAU’s next game will be on Saturday, October 9 at 3:30 P.M. against the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
