Awards were announced for student-athletes from Coconut Creek and surrounding schools, highlighting standout performances across football, volleyball, and cross country.
The Monarch football team had five players named to the First Team. On offense, Jabari Brady, Florentino Lopez, and Lorvens Barthelemy earned honors, while Christian Davis and Dasean Miller were selected on defense.
Brady, a University of Missouri signee, recorded 64 receptions for 1,118 yards and 12 touchdowns, totaling 1,300 all-purpose yards. He also became the first player in school history to post back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Lopez finished the season with 2,743 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 546 rushing yards with 10 scores. He concluded his four-year career with 9,143 passing yards and 65 touchdowns. Barthelemy anchored the offensive line, protecting Lopez while recording 63 pancake blocks.
Juwan Dawkins, Amari Deer, Contreas Faison Jr., Jamar Hudson, and Nicholas Soto earned Honorable Mention recognition for a Monarch team that won its fourth consecutive District Championship and finished 7–5, including a playoff victory over Doral Academy. They also had several players earn All-Star recognition, including Jayden Joselin, Trent McIntosh, Wallace McIntosh, Jawon Dawkins, Juovance Nelson, Zanii Miller, Jekarin Gentiles, Tevin Southerland, Aiden Smith, Jamari Johnson, and Carlos Alce. The cheerleading squad was also honored, with Gabriella Pope, Ira Joseph, Britney Valerio, and Amara Lauriston earning All-Star selections.
The girls’ volleyball program was well represented at the BCAA Championship, with head coach Sarah O’Keefe coaching the Blue Team in the All-Star Game. Two of her players, Brooke Yuknus and Chloe Mercucio, competed under her leadership. Mika Petit-Homne also represented Coconut Creek volleyball after helping lead the Lady Cougars to three wins this season.
Coconut Creek High School also earned conference recognition after posting a 9–3 record and winning a playoff game. Jordan Thompson was named to the First Team after rushing for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding three receiving touchdowns for 349 yards. Carlos Alce, Cayden Delions, and Tevin Sutherland received Honorable Mention honors.
North Broward Prep had multiple football players earn Honorable Mentions, including Damon Alexander, Ralph Diaz, Noah Finkelstein, Kenneth Hall, Thor Hwasta, Peter McLaughlin, Ethan Phillips, Mateo Sanchez, Josh Sylvain, and Emerson Walker.
The Eagles enjoyed their greatest success in volleyball following a State Championship season. Dasia Johnson was named Player of the Year after finishing with 326 kills, 240 service receptions, 222 digs, 58 aces, 40 blocks, and a .384 hitting percentage. Brian Coughenour was named Coach of the Year in his first season after leading the team to a 26–2 record. Yasmin Dias Tonon and Destiny Wiggins were selected to the First Team. Dias Tonon, a Bentley University signee, recorded 320 kills, 194 digs, 60 aces, 40 blocks, and a .389 hitting percentage. Wiggins contributed 436 digs, 438 service receptions, 91 assists, and 36 aces.
Eighth-grader Emma Luehrs was named to the Second Team alongside Jayda Palumbo. Luehrs led the team with 773 assists, while Palumbo finished third on the team in kills with 235. Layni Tobias added 126 kills and earned Honorable Mention recognition as the team also captured District and Regional championships.
In cross country, Willis Gillis was named Player of the Year after winning the District Championship with a career-best time of 15:59.60. He placed fifth at regionals and 24th at the state meet. Jon Volpi was named Coach of the Year as the team finished third at Districts and second at Regionals. Levi Bekker, Eric Levy, and Caden Nassar received Honorable Mention honors.
