North Broward Prep Football. {NBP Athletics}
North Broward Prep has been highly successful lately. Their football team recorded its second win, a senior night volleyball win, and a major track and field commitment.
The football team made it back-to-back wins following a 35-21 victory over St. John Paul II Academy. After starting the season 0-5, the Eagles scored at least 30 points in two straight games.
They previously beat Somerset Academy 31-26 before their second win of the season on Friday night. Hunter Gillman shined again with 200 yards passing and four touchdowns. Xavier Cooking caught three of them and had 144 yards, while Anthony Maestre had 107 yards rushing, a touchdown, and a receiving score.
Peter McLaughlin led the team with ten tackles, Ethan Phillips added eight, and Maestre had seven. Samuel Greggs, Mekhi Desolomme, and Tanner Gilman combined for 16 tackles.
The Eagles then lost against Calvary Christian Academy in their last game 48-13 despite a touchdown pass from Matthew Condon to Cooking. NBP will play their next game against Coral Springs Charter on Thursday, October 17, at 6 p.m,
The girls volleyball team picked up a 25-17, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20 win over Coral Springs Charter to improve to 10-8. Madison Easton and Evelyn Vanderputten were both recognized.
The Eagles will head into the postseason as the top seed and will play the winner of Suncoast and Stranahan High School on Thursday, October 16 at 6 p.m. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Pompano Beach, and Boyton Beach High School on the other side of the bracket.

NBP also had a commitment from State Champion Alexa Schwartz, as she is headed to Florida State University.
“It feels amazing to commit to FSU,” Schwartz said. “I am so excited to get on campus and start working with Coach Bryant and the other throwers to accomplish some great things. Committing to FSU is also a major stress reliever as the recruitment process can be quite intense and uncertain.”
Schwartz began javelin during her sophomore year and finished second at the FHSAA State Championship before taking first as a junior. Also a star on the basketball court, Schwartz believed in the coaches and visions for the FSU track and field team.
The biggest thing that led her to commit to FSU was believing in the coaches and their visions for the program moving forward with their strong academics and athletics.
“Coach Kane and Coach Bryant are both dedicated to making this program the best it can be, as well as helping the athletes thrive in the classroom and as people,” Schwartz said.
Schwartz will graduate from NBP this spring and still have one more year left of basketball and one final track and field season before attending FSU.
