North Broward Prep baseball continues to add to their incredible run in Coconut Creek with a third State Championship in the last four years.
The Eagles lost in the Championship Game last year but got their revenge with a State Title in 2024. They finished as the second-ranked team in Florida and top-ten nationally after going 28-3.
“To come back and finish was very important especially for the senior class, “Head Coach Brian Campbell said. “It was also important for everyone, and that’s why we started working in September and October to reach that goal. I knew they could and Im fortunate we could.”
After winning a Pam League Championship and a District and Regional Title, the Eagles went to States. They beat Bishop Verot 4-1 in the Semifinals behind a complete game from Mateo Gray. TJ Gramesty, Riley Luft, and Max Burkholz all drove in runs.
Gray hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the Championship Game against Westminister Christian. The Eagles allowed a run in the top of the third but responded with Gray’s third RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Nikolas Koorse worked into the sixth inning and was pulled right before the Warriors tied the game with a two-run single, but NBP responded with two in the home half, with Kiernan O’Neil driving in a run and a second one scoring on an error.
O’Neil also came in to record the save, with Luft throwing out a runner at the plate in the seventh inning. He then went on to get two groundouts to secure the title with a 5-4 win. NBP has eight seniors; seven are currently signed to play college baseball, including Luft, Gian De Castro, Ryan McPherson, Gray, Gramesty, Koorse, and A.J. Cutler.
