From Mayor Christine Hunschofsky:
As we move into the month of March, the City of Parkland begins its strategic planning process in which we review both our current practices as well as plan for our upcoming annual budget. Beyond merely looking to the year ahead, the strategic planning process allows us to look into the future and set priorities for Parkland’s direction.
For 2020, our city is embarking on a multi-month strategic planning process that will include input from our residents, commission, and staff. Initial planning meetings began in February, and in March and April, the process continues with resident outreach in addition to meetings with the commission and staff.
The result will leave us with an adopted strategic plan that will include updated goals and strategic initiatives for the city and a business and work plan, which will be the foundation for our annual budget planning.
Issues like public safety services, a master plan for parks and recreation for residents of all ages, infrastructure improvements including traffic signals and roadway improvements, projections for the completion of the communities in the Wedge, and other city services will all be discussed as part of this process. We encourage community input into our strategic planning, and I hope that residents will reach out to me by email or in person to share questions, concerns, and ideas that we can discuss during strategic planning.
In terms of upcoming city events, in addition to our wonderful Farmers’ Market on March 8 and March 22, we have some excellent special events in March, including our very popular Parkchella concert on March 14 from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Pine Trails Park and our Movie in the Park on March 27 from 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. You can find out more about our city and all events and activities at www.cityofparkland.org and www.facebook.com/copfl.
Our next city commission meetings are on Wednesday, March 4, and March 18 at 7 p.m. You can view all meeting agendas at www.cityofparkland.org/cc. Also, I will be holding open office hours on Thursday, March 5, from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at Parkland City Hall. There is no appointment necessary. If you are unable to make it to the office hours, you can reach me directly by email at chunschofsky@cityofparkland.org.
I look forward to hearing from you.
