A Coconut Creek teen faces multiple felony charges after police say he used Facebook Marketplace to set up the armed robbery of a man selling luxury watches, then wore one of the stolen watches to school just days later.
According to Coconut Creek Police Department arrest records, Devontae Eason, 19, of Coconut Creek, was arrested on May 16 following an investigation that began May 10, when officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Bell Apartments on West Hillsboro Boulevard in Parkland..
The victim told officers he had arranged to sell two watches—a Cartier valued at $1,500 and a custom G-Shock worth $1,000—via Facebook Marketplace. The buyer, later identified as Eason, reportedly used the alias “Jonathan Moissanitewatch” and sent a fake bank statement to convince the seller of his legitimacy.
The arrest affidavit claims that when the two met at the apartment complex, the seller said Eason put both watches on his wrists, then pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at him before fleeing on foot with the watches still on his arms.
Detectives later received screenshots from an anonymous Instagram tip showing a man wearing the stolen watches alongside the same type of firearm used in the robbery. The images were traced back to the username “Taeslickedyoho,” which led officers to a secondary account, “Taecheated.”
Facial recognition and confirmation from a school resource officer at Monarch High School, where Eason was a student in 2024 and had previously been arrested in an unrelated case, helped identify him as the suspect.
Further investigation revealed that Eason was still living near the robbery scene at Bell Apartments and was observed wearing one of the stolen watches just days later.
On May 14, school officials at Deerfield Beach High School, where Eason now attends, also spotted him wearing what appeared to be the Cartier watch during school hours.
A photo lineup presented to the victim on May 14 identified Eason as the suspect.
Eason was taken into custody on May 16 and charged with armed robbery. His bond was set at $17,000.
