Coconut Creek Girls’ Softball Revives Travel Team After Five-Year Hiatus

The Coconut Creek Girls’ Softball League is resurrecting its travel team for the first time since 2020.

The team, known as the Coconut Creek Storm, will hold a tryout for its 14-and-under team at Highlands Christian Academy in Pompano Beach on Saturday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m. Interested players can register at www.creeksoftball.com, according to Brittny Rodriguez, president of the league.

Also, the league is kicking off its fall recreational season in late August and is looking for players of all talent levels ages 5-18 to play fast-pitch softball. Registration for the fall recreational season is priced at $110 for 6U/T-ball and 8U divisions, and $160 for 10U, 13U, and 14U+/high school divisions. The recreational team plays against teams from Margate, Coral Springs, Parkland, and West Boca. Registration can be made online at www.creeksoftball.com, according to Rodriguez.

The league operated two recreational and travel seasons annually with more than 500 players at its peak and won several championship titles. Because of COVID, the league suffered, and the travel program known as Team Crush lost players and eventually dissolved. The recreational program continued, and participation numbers increased.

“We are proud to announce that this year the league was able to increase registrations by 25 percent since 2024, allowing for an all-star team during the summer of 2026 and launch our first travel team since the dissolution of Team Crush back in 2020,” said Rodriguez.

The goal of the league is to provide a positive experience for girls. “It offers camaraderie and an opportunity to expand softball skill levels and socialization, and opportunities for volunteer opportunities to high school students who want to coach and umpire,” said Rodriguez.

Highlands Christian Academy is located at 501 NE 48th St., Pompano Beach.
