
North Broward Prep Girls Soccer. {NBP Athletics}
Soccer season is officially underway in Coconut Creek, with three schools kicking off the new season.
The Monarch High School boys team began the season 2-0-2 following wins against West Broward High School, Doral Academy, and a tie against Immaculate La Salle High School, Coral Springs Charter, and Everglades High School. Sam Costa and Diego Monsalve had a goal and an assist in the first game during a 2-1 win over the Bobcats. Diego Barrera also added an assist before they played to a 0-0 tie against the Royal Lions, a 1-1 tie against the Panthers, and a 0-0 tie against the Gators.
The boys’ team went 11-12-3 last year and won a District Championship before falling to South Broward High School in Regionals. Next, they will play St. John Paul Academy on Monday, November 17, at 4 p.m.
The Monarch High School girls team is 2-1 after starting the season with a 5-4 win over Westminster Academy. Angelena Pirolo scored three goals and had an assist, with Daniella Abadir finding the back of the net twice. Sophia Henrique and Abigail Jacome combined for three assists.
The Knights followed that up with a 1-0 win over Coral Springs High School on a goal by Abadir, assisted by Pirolo. Makayla Armstrong made six saves in net for her first shutout of the season. However, they lost 7-0 against Coral Springs Charter in their last game and will play Pompano Beach High School in their next game on Monday, November 17, at 5 p.m.
The Coconut Creek High School boys’ team is 3-0 after wins over Hallandale, Miramar, Blanche Ely, and Deerfield Beach High School. Jotsadak Marcellus leads the team with three goals, while Herdy Clermont, Jordi Velasquez, Mike Milford, and Clevice Joseph all have two, while Blanneko Pierre and Hans Rene have scored once. Jareem Weekes has made 10 saves in four games and has not allowed a goal. Next, they will play Deerfield Beach High School on Tuesday, November 18, at 5 p.m.
The Coconut Creek High School girls’ team forfeited its first game. Next, the Cougars are scheduled to play South Plantation High School on December 3 at 7 p.m.
The North Broward Prep boys team played to a 0-0 draw against West Boca Raton High School to start their season, then lost 2-0 to Cardinal Gibbons High School. However, they began the Palm City Tournament with a 2-1 win over Oxbridge Academy before an 8-0 Loss against NSU University. They will play their final game of the Palm League Tournament on Tuesday, November 18.
The girls’ team began the season with a 3-0 win over Miami Country Day School. The Eagles then tied Pine Crest School 1-1, tied Cardinal Gibbons and Saint Andrews School, and then knocked off Gulliver Prep High School 2-0 in the second game of the Palm City Tournament. Next, they will play NSU University on Tuesday, November 18, at 3 p.m.
