Coconut Creek has produced another star: Xavier Restrepo from the University of Miami football team.
The junior is coming off a season where he set the school record with 85 receptions and had 1,092 receiving yards, including catching 11 passes for 99 yards in their bowl game against Rutgers. The Hurricanes finished the season with a record of 7-6, while Restrepo has 1,717 yards and ten touchdowns in his college career.
As a kid, Restrepo played locally with the Coconut Creek Eagles, the Deerfield Packer Rattlers, and Pembroke Pines Bellas before competing for St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He then transferred to Deerfield Beach High School for his senior year. Restrepo had 28 total touchdowns, including 3,000 receiving yards, 2,500 yards on the ground, and eight interceptions before committing to Miami.
When Restrepo is not on the field, he continues giving back to the Coconut Creek community. He held his first free youth football clinic this past summer at Monarch High School and will return to Miami for his final year of eligibility.
