With the fall season approaching, Coconut Creek is celebrating another collegiate athlete as Yasmin Dias Tonan has officially committed to Bentley University in Massachusetts.
Tonan, who is entering her senior year at North Broward Prep, credited her family and coaches for their support and says she’s only getting started.
“I’m beyond excited to announce that I’ll be continuing my academic and athletic journey at Bentley University to play D2 volleyball,” Tonan said.
She becomes the third player from last year’s team to commit to a college program, joining teammates Madison Easton and Jayda Palumbo.
A standout on the varsity squad for the past three seasons, Tonan has already tallied 617 kills — including 260 during her junior year. She also recorded 85 aces and 536 digs last season alone while earning Team MVP. Her squad has won 38 matches in the last three years, including the last two District Championships. Tonon also plays Club Volleyball with the Tribe and will be playing in college next year for a team that went 26-7 the previous year.
Before that, she will play her final year with the varsity team as they are set to open their year on August 14 in a matchup against Boca Raton Christian High School in the Preseason Classic.
