The Monarch High School band has won recognition.
The school’s wind ensemble received a straight superior rating at the Florida Bandmasters’ Association (FBA) State Concert Band Music Performance Assessment (MPA) held at Bailey Concert Hall at Broward College on May 3.
“This marks the third consecutive year of superior ratings at both the district and state level for the Concert MPA, setting a school record for Superiors earned from 2023 through 2025,” said director Caleb Miller.
Student leaders in the Monarch band have earned significant honors. Julia Rodrigues, a senior, drum major and principal saxophone player, earned a superior rating at the state solo competition and has been a member of state-level honor bands. She will attend Florida Atlantic University next year and study music education.
“I have a passion for music, and I consider the band to be my family. “I love to practice and perform music,” said Rodrigues.
