Bruno and Gene. {Broward County Animal Care}
Broward County Animal Care is hoping to connect two of its longtime residents with loving families this week: Bruno, an 8-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, and Gene, a 5-year-old domestic shorthair cat.
Bruno (A2409083) has been at the shelter since February after being separated from his owner. Seven months later, he is still waiting for a second chance. Staff describe him as a sweetheart who loves attention, playtime, and walks. Bruno appears housebroken, keeps his kennel spotless, and quickly warms up to affection. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and available with waived adoption fees.
Gene (A2420369) is a gentle cat with a unique snaggle-tooth smile. She was rescued in Coral Springs after being abandoned with other cats. Severely underweight at just 5 pounds on intake, Gene has gained back her strength and now weighs a healthy 8 pounds. Staff say she loves chin scratches and melts into pets once she trusts you. Like Bruno, she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has no adoption fees.
Both animals are ready to go home today. Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters only pay $25 for the required county registration tag.
