The City of Coconut Creek has announced the launch of its Boys Basketball League for 2025, offering young athletes a chance to enjoy competitive play, build teamwork, and stay active.
The league is open to boys ages 12 to 17, divided into two age divisions: 14U, for players ages 12 to 14 (grades 6 through 8), and 17U, for players ages 15 to 17 (grades 9 through 11). Their age determines player eligibility as of August 31, 2025.
Participants will enjoy a full season that includes ten regular games, playoffs, and a championship, with all players receiving jerseys and shorts.
The league will kick off with player evaluations at the Community Center, located at 1100 Lyons Road. Evaluations for the 14U division will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., while 17U evaluations are scheduled for Monday, March 17, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Practices are set to begin the week of March 24, with schedules and locations determined by volunteer coaches after teams are formed. Games will officially start the week of Saturday, April 19, with 14U games on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays and 17U games on Thursday evenings and Saturdays.
The season will culminate with a championship game and awards ceremony for both divisions on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Community Center.
Games and awards ceremonies will be held indoors at the Community Center, while practices take place either at the Community Center or at the Recreation Complex located at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.
Participation costs $120 for Coconut Creek residents and $170 for non-residents. To qualify for the resident rate, participants must present a state-issued driver’s license or valid passport for identification, along with proof of residency such as a voter’s registration card or utility bill no more than two months old. Payments are accepted by credit card only.
Registration Details
Registration runs from January 2 through March 10, 2025, or until capacity is reached. Interested participants can register online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or in person at either the Community Center or the Recreation Complex. A copy of the participant’s birth certificate may also be required to verify age and legal guardianship.
The City is seeking volunteer coaches to help make the league a success. Coaches must complete an application and undergo a background screening with fingerprinting. A shortage of coaches could impact the league’s capacity, potentially resulting in early closure of registration or adjustments to division age groups. Those interested in coaching are encouraged to contact the Community Center for more details.
