The Coconut Creek High School boys basketball team had an impressive showing at the Delray Atlantic Holiday Classic, rolling through the tournament with dominant performances before playing in a rivalry matchup
Tournament Play
Coconut Creek opened play with an 82–18 victory over Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy. The Cougars jumped out to a massive lead by outscoring the Gladiators 36–2 in the first quarter and took a 62–6 advantage into halftime. Coconut Creek earned its fourth win of the season behind 18 points from Nicholas Lindsay. Jeremiah Chute added 16 points, Bivindi Pal finished in double figures with 11, and Nash Youte chipped in two points.
The Cougars followed that performance with another lopsided win, defeating Village Academy 84–30. Once again, Coconut Creek scored more than 50 points in the first half. Jean led all scorers with a game-high 34 points, while Lindsay and Chute combined for 22.
Coconut Creek closed out the tournament with a 51–41 win over Glades High School. Noel and Jean combined for 31 points, while Lindsay also contributed offensively as the Cougars secured the tournament victory.
North Broward Prep, ranked seventh in the state and 43rd nationally, endured a demanding holiday stretch by playing six games in seven days. The Eagles posted a 6–1 record during that span, defeating Roselle Catholic (76–45), Southwest (73–27), Central Gwinnett (69–62), Calvary Christian Academy (71–53), and Windermere (84–56). Their only loss came against IMG Academy (67–57), which remains their lone defeat through 16 games this season.
The Eagles currently have four players averaging double figures in scoring: Franceso Borio, Feliz Buroz, Samuel Cano, and Jayden Smith. Borio leads the team in rebounds, while Buroz is averaging nearly three steals per game.
Monarch stands at 7–4 on the season after a 55–47 win over FAU High School in its most recent game. Isiah Phillip led the way with 25 points and remains the team’s leading scorer as they then played Coconut Creek High School on Tuesday, but lost 61-47 in the first game of the new year.
Rivalry Matchups
The Cougars jumped out to a 16-10 lead after the first quarter and held a one-point advantage at halftime. The third quarter saw Coconut Creek go on a 20-8 run, helping them finish the game with 39 points in the second half for the team’s sixth win of the season. Bivindi Jean and Nash Youte each led the Cougars with 18 points, while Nikole Campbell added 12. Campbell also led the Knights with 12 points, as Monarch had 11 players score at least two points.
The Lady Cougars dominated, winning 71-31 behind 33 points from Aja Bryan. Bryan also contributed 16 rebounds and seven steals, helping Coconut Creek improve to 6-2. Ma’Kylah Menard and Arial Jackson each added 16 points. Monarch, which started the season 5-1, fell to 5-3 after back-to-back losses.
The Coconut Creek boys soccer team won 2-1 over the Knights. Mike Milford and Vaguensly Vaine each scored, while Jotsadak Marcellus had an assist. Kareen Weeks allowed only one goal and made seven saves. The Monarch High School girls’ soccer team defeated McArthur High School 6-0. Sarah Hernandez and Delilah Alvarado Nater each scored two goals, while Angelino Pirolo and Malkyala Armstrong each added one.
